Mimi's Rapid Fire Reviews for Constantine The Hellblazer #4, Beauty #2, Doctor Fate #4 and more!

Hi world, my name's Mimi and here's my reviews for Doctor Fate #4, Martian Manhunter #4, Robin: Son of Batman #4, Wonder Woman #44, Black Canary #4, Beauty #2, Tokyo Ghost #1, Agent Carter #1, All New Hawkeye #5, Captain America White #1, Van Helsing Vs Dracula #2 and Constantine #4

Doctor Fate # 4
Aw, Khalid, you poor kid. Shaya is great and I'm happy Khalid has her. I love Egyptian mythology/lore. The Egyptian gods and goddesses are freaking awesome. I'm enjoying Khalid slowly accepting this bizarre journey he is now going through with Doctor Fate's helmet. He's got a lot on his shoulders, like all heroes do really, but it's fun seeing him take it with stride. It's how I feel Kat feels reading any Spiderman issue or Spider-Gwen issue really. A nice sense of pride for the characters dealing with whatever they are facing with the cards they've been dealt.

Favorite Quote(S): ''We all have to do three impossible things before breakfast K, Maybe you'll have to do four.''
What I liked most: The lack of fighting Anubis this time.
What I disliked most: I don't know honestly.
Rating: 5 out of 5.

Martian Manhunter #4

So I don't really care for this series all that much but man, that is one awesome cover. It's a weird series that I'm not all that invested in but I still enjoy reading it at the same time. The line ''My arm fell off, I liked that arm.'' made me think of Monty Python and the Quest for the Holy Grail. It made me smile. This series makes me smile even though it's not my normal cup of tea for a comic. It's an enjoyable read with some cool art. Also was fun to read while I listened to The Martian on audio book.

Favorite Quote(s): ''I liked people watching. Cops do. Maybe because you're looking for crimes. You're looking for, I guess, hints of guilt. Something just below the surface. Or perhaps you're just looking for something. Even if you don't know what that is. You're looking for someone to save. Or someone to save you.''

What I liked most: ''Mr. Biscuits.''
What I disliked most: The jumping plot lines..
Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

Robin: Son of Batman #4
I don't know about you, but I'm tired of Deathstroke.  This is one of those series that is visually awesome but plot line wise, I'm not hooked. I could skip this series for five, six issues and binge read it and feel alright without having been up to date on it for a few months. Damien is a cool, crazy little kid but I'm honestly enjoying him more in his brief Gotham Academy cameo then I am in his own series.

Favorite Quote(s): ''Just some kid? What? His kid? Do all of you daughters of assassins got a club or something?''

What I liked most: The arts cool.
What I disliked most: The plot isn't keeping my attention.
Rating: 2.5 out of 5.

Wonder Woman #44
The more I read the Finch run of Wonder Woman, the more I wonder why don't more married couples co-write comics together? I know they can't be the only ones doing it, they just are the only one I know about at the moment. They are a great team and I loved this issue and the others that I've recently gotten to review for Wonder Woman.
''That doesn't look like nothing to me - there's an arrow sticking out of your shoulder.''
''I heal quickly. Thank you for your concern grandmother.''
I also really like Donna, and the Xena reference.
Favorite Quote(s): ''You're really going to have to try a lot harder if you want to make lurking in darkened corners your thing.''
What I liked most: Donna's friend with the human and Diana's talk with Hera.
What I disliked most: The little blonde shit, being a little blonde shit.
Rating: 4.5 out of 5

Black Canary #4

So I really love this series, I love the art work, I love how Dina is being drawn, I love her back story and the whole band concept. The band mates are cute and it's a nice and dramatic story without being to over the top. I'm looking forward to each months issue and I hope to one day cosplay this version of Black Canary after I've completed my Arrow version of Black Canary.

WHO IS THE WHITE NINJA CHICK? WHEN WILL DITTO SPEAK? IS MAUVE AND DINA GOING TO HAVE A BADASS FIGHT SCENE? I don't know about the first two but I know the third will so happen next issue.

Favorite Quote(s) 'I'll tell you how I learned to move. Okay, so, wavy flashback, flashback, flashback.''
What I liked most: D.D. fighting the guy at the gas station.
What I disliked most: Ending?
Rating: 4.5 out of 5

Beauty #2
''So are you done throwing your little fit now?''
''Yeah. Wait, no. I really hate that woman! Okay, now I'm done, I promise.''

The world is infected with Beauty, it's a disease that is ending with people freaking bursting into flames and other horrendous ways of death. It's well, it's beautiful. The story is filled with complex layers that I'm throughly enjoying. I can't wait to read next months issue. I want it now and I want the trade and to talk with the writers, I just want to shower them in praise and give them candy and coffee so they can eat and keep on writing/drawing.

Favorite Quote(s): ''When we get busted for this, I'm never speaking to you again, ever.''

What I liked most: The art work.
What I disliked most: ENDING DRAMATICALLY, GIVE ME MORE NOW!
Rating: 5 out of 5.

Tokyo Ghost #1
Man, look at that cover! It is so freaking awesome, and the art inside! Wow, it just kept on getting cooler and cooler. This comic made me think of Pacific Rim now that I finally got to watch it all for good and not just from some bad bootleg DVD. It had a great mixture of Mad Max Fury Road with Pacific Rim at the same time.  ''Electronic Opium dens.'' Man, what a line describing the world of Tokyo Ghost. This was such a cool comic! The world is intense and believable and the characters are fun to root for. I'd love one of those Emotion Indicators, just saying. I loved the little bubbles on other comic artists who apparently still exist in this world.
Favorite Quote(s): ''Cold fusion repair man? More like hot fusion to me.'' and ''Four scour and holy balls!''
What I liked most: Led Dent and Debbie Decay. How can you not love those names?
What I disliked most: SAD ENDING, I mean I'm already hooked so I'll so read issue #2 but still.
Rating: 5 out of 5

Agent Carter #1

So I learned something new, Peggy's name is Margaret. Kathryn Imonen is an awesome writer and Rich Ellis' art with Rachel Roaenberg's coloring was superb. Dungan and Carter really are a great team. LADY SIF LOOKED ADORABLE! The fact Sif just wanted to work with Peggy made me smile. It was such a cute comic and I wanted to hug Peggy at the end. I'm thrilled Peggy and Sif took Fury's car and drove off into the sun set to go drink and try not to set stuff on fire.

Favorite Quote(s) "How many more times. How many more times can we be tested? How much harder do we have to try? And for what? To prove what? That we're strong enough to lose and lose arms and legs and lose memories and comrades? Lose friends? And lose houses but not homes? Lose battles but not wars? Lose heart but not hope? I am strong enough to do that. But this I am not strong enough for this."

What I liked most: Peggy being so adamant on making sure Sif is okay over her own well being.
What I disliked most: Fury being an ass.  He's kind of always an ass though.
Rating: 5 out of 5.

All New Hawkeye #5

Gah, I hate it when Clint and Kate fight. The little kids made by Hydra were cute in a weird way. I loved Ramón Pérez's combined with Ian Herring's coloring. The flash backs were just so beautiful for me. It made me think of the Electra trade I just finished reading. This was just a beautiful read but like Kat said when we talked about this yesterday, we need more Kate back story! Not that I didn't thoroughly enjoy this new flash back style, I want more on dear old Katie Kate.

Favorite Quote(s) "It's hard to look back on your life and point to one event- one moment that changed everything and set you on the path that made you, you. That only happens in movies. Most people's lives are a series of millions of messy little moments strung together adding up to a messy little life. But sometimes, you can look back and see a pattern forming see a clear path cutting through the mess. It makes you wonder, do we even have a choice at all? Or was that path going you form no matter what we did?"

What I liked most: The flash back coloring
What I disliked most: Freaking cliff hanger/time skip.
Rating: 5 out of 5

Captain America White #1
Well this had me at ''A new story featuring Captain America and Bucky.''

Young Bucky and 6-7 year older Captain America was priceless. Also the fact no one knew Steve was Captain America was very cute. Steve defending Captain America to other people just made me smile.

It hurt to see all of the drama for Bucky and the really heart felt monologue's from Steve that were used throughout the comic.

Favorite Quote(s): ''You could ''find the funny'' in any situation. No matter how dire. Even in the middle of war. Especially In the middle of war.''

What I liked most: Bucky, all young and spunky.
What I disliked most: Fury being a dick.
Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

Van Helsing Vs Dracula #2

I love the art of this series so freaking much. That entire page of Liesel standing surrounded by Dracula's vampires was beautiful.  Poor Harker is just always screwed over by everyone all because he's in love with Mina. And Mina is always stuck being a mindless zombie vampire thing to Dracula. It's a lovely repetitive thing but it seems that Mina isn't a vampire just yet so hopefully she'll be back to normal as the series goes on!

I liked the speech Liesel gave Hades at the end, I'm sad he left but man, the Underworld looks phenomenal so I'm not that sad. It looks great! Liesel just makes me really happy as a character and I can't wait to go back and read her other series.

Hades is fabulous, I want to read more about him and will invest a lot of money to do so when I have the cash.

Last but not least, Liesel's internal comments on Dracula and how much he horrifies her made me happy. The font switch is also really nice. Dracula's 'creepy' font is pretty to me.

Favorite Quote(s) ''Oh, come off it with the bleeding poetry you fucking hack!'' and ''Oh balls.''

What I liked most: That page that Liesel looked totally badass holding a weapon with surrounded by Dracula's lackies.
What I disliked most: HARKER AND HADES FIGHTING!
Rating: 5 out of 5.

Constantine #4

Ming Doyle, James Tynion IV, Vanesa Del Rey, Chris Visions and Ivan Plascenia are a fabulous team up. Ming and James writing is superb and Vanesa and Chris's as the artists really works well together in this issue. The bright colorful and grungy band days flashbacks with odes to Zatanna and the Mucus Membrane days fills me with glee and the over all dick-ish way of John in his youth just felt so right. It was a perfect tip of the hat to the original John Constantine Hellblazer days but in a nice 'new' way at the same time. I loved the whole concept of magicians needing to practice magick and if they stop, it really messes with them as apart of our world. It's just so freaking great and I love it. I can't wait to own a trade paper back for this series and every issue after this.

This series run at Constantine is done so well with the team it's assembled. I was apprehensive at first when I heard what was going on but now I shove this comic at people and tell them to read it.

Favorite quote (s) "Jesus wept." and ''I remember those early days with the band, the crowd filling up with less humans and more monsters by the night and who could blame them? We were a bloody force nature. We were going to kiss every boy, every girl, every demon with eyes in the right configuration, and we were going to know every secret thing to know and come up with a few new secrets ourselves. And I was going to do it with her by my side, VERONICA DELACROIX, she was crap at back up vocals, but I was pretty crap at singing in the first place. Later that night she'd get into a screaming match with a rhyming demon and rip off one of his antlers. My little angel. Even now, I remember her on that stage. I remember realizing the truth, deep down and real. We were beautiful, the world was ours for the taking. And if it had problem with that, it could go fuck itself.''

What I liked most: The whole concept of magicians fading off to nothing when they don't do magic.
What I disliked; Cliff hanger from Hell.

Rating: 5 out of 5
