Paul Bettany Will Play The Vision In Avengers: Age of Ultron

Paul Bettany, the voice of Jarvis (Tony Stark's AI butler) in the previous Iron Man movies has been cast to play the Vision  in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Bettany had been seen at Shepperton Studios where Avengers: Age of Ultron will be filming, for makeup tests to make his skin "chalk white." Of course in his role of playing Jarvis, such make-up test were never needed as the actor was never on screen. Variety later confirmed the rumor that yes, Bettany will portray the Vision.

As comicbook readers will note, the Vision is an android who was originally created by Ultron to destroy the Avengers in Avengers Vol 1  #57 (October 1968) . Early mythos had his body being the android shell that housed the Golden Age Human Torch (a fact that has been retconned out). The Vision's brain patterns were supposedly based on Simon Williams aka Wonder Man, an Avengers adversary from Avengers Vol 1 #9 (October, 1964) who repented, turning away from his villainous master much as the Vision would eventually do.  Both the Vision and Wonder Man eventually made their way into the Avengers as members. The comicbook Vision has the ability to change his density and emit a solar ray from the jewel on his forehead. It remains to be seen if these will be his powers on the big screen.
