Welcome to Eltingville that is not just me introducing you to the latest book from Dark Horse, but it is also the title of the pilot of a show that only produced the one episode titled "Bring Me The Head Of Boba Fett." The show is based on writer Evan Dorkin's Eisner Award-Winning comic Dork! and aired on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim on March 3, 2002. The Eltingville Club is the next chapter in the tragic story of four older teenagers who are fans, and they’re possibly some of the worst fans who have ever lived. Dark Horse has given Comic Frontline a preview of The Elingville Club #1 by Evan Dorkin!
The Elingville Club is based on Dorkin's days as a comic store employee at Jim Hanley's Universe's Richmond Avenue store in Staten Island, New York (Eltingville is one of Staten Island's neighborhoods).
We’re calling it The Eltingville Club, because there’s never been an Eltingville comic. There’s just been a bunch of short stories over the last 20 years.

I love Evan Dorkin's work and I'll definitely be picking this up! He's a great guy as well as I picked up the collected Milk & Cheese when I exhibited at Heroes Con a couple years back and we chatted a bit. To top it all off, I was just at that store a few weeks ago. This book is screaming my name, lol.
ReplyDeleteI've been a casual comic buyer for the past 15 years, and "Dork" and anything Eltingville-related have been the only things I've consistently bought. So glad this is coming out.
