Mimi's Rapid Fire Reviews aka Mimi reviews A LOT Of things. DC Bombshells #2, Toil & Trouble #1 and more!

  1. Hi world, my name's Mimi and here's my reviews for:  Starlord and Kitty Pryde #3, Mockingbird S.H.I.E.L.D. 50th Anniversary #1, Doctor Who The Tenth Doctor #15, Doctor Who The Four Doctors Event #4 of 5, Thors #3, Hail Hydra #2, Groot #4, Deadpool Vs Thanos #1, Daredevil #18, The Flash Season Zero #12, Green Arrow #44, DC Comics Bombshells #2 and Toil and Trouble #1

  1. Starlord and Kitty Pryde #3

I really love that Peter's 'thoughts' are made through things like <I might puke> I love the use of the carrot type thing. I just really love how Peter and Kitty Pryde are written okay? I can't wait to get a trade paper-back of this series whenever it comes out. Drak was amazing, him popping up had me laughing out loud to be honest.  This was such a fun 3 part series/story thing. I don't even know what you call it when it's just 3 issues. Is it a short? Either way, awesome series. So happy I got to read it all!

Favorite Quote(s): Why wear a blazer when you can wear an overcoat I always say.
What I liked most; A tie between Drax and the Rocket Raccoon tail scene.
What I disliked most:  THE FACT IT'S OVER.
Rating; 5 out of 5.

Mockingbird S.H.I.E.L.D. 50th Anniversary #1

YES IT OPENS UP WITH BOBBI AND LANCE BUT SHE CALLS HIM CLINT. I'M SO HAPPY THIS HAPPENED! ALL THE SHIPPER FEELS. THE TARDIS MUG AND THE NATASHA ONE, AH. The artists, I want to hug them so much right now. Bobbi is one of my favorite S.H.I.E.L.D. characters and I throughly enjoyed her in this Mockingbird 50th anniversary special. The mini comic with Red Widow was also a great read and reminded me about Black Widow Forever Red coming out in October. I can't wait to buy this comic for myself and buy Black Widow Forever Red when it comes out next month!

Favorite Quote(s): You did that on purpose, right? BOBBI?!
What I liked most; A tie between Bobbi & Lance and the amazing Red Widow ending!
What I disliked most: Kind of the villain for Bobbi's comic but it was just a great comic. I just don't know what to complain about?
Rating; 5 out of 5.

Doctor Who The Tenth Doctor #15

Cindy, Gabby and Dorothy Bell are just such sweet, beautiful ladies who got mixed amounts of page time but I enjoyed them nevertheless. Also liked everyone telling Erik to shut up even though he didn't listen. Erik's comments to Anubis got annoying pretty fast, especially at the end.

I'm not in love with the open ending? Is this supposed to be an on going series? Will I have a new 'season' to read? Or was it just another Doctor Who open ending type thing I'm supposed to be thrilled with?

Favorite Quote(s): The sky is not filled with darkness but with light. And I'm a wanderer. I travel. But I have friends on many worlds, including Earth.
What I liked most; Page 18 was one of my favorites of the issue.
What I disliked most:  The ending due to feelings.
Rating; 3.5 out of 5.

Doctor Who The Four Doctors Event #4 of 5

I think this is one of my favorites of all of the issue at the moment for this Doctor Who event. The lady power towards the end was great and I liked the villainous rants/monologues. I enjoyed the 'voice' of 10, 11 and 12 as well as Gabby, Alice and Clara. It felt very realistic to the TV show minus Gabby and Alice. This was a really dramatic issue and I'm excited to see how it will all tie together next week with the end of the event in time for the return of Doctor Who on BBC America! Go check it out if you haven't already! Also really loved that The Doctor's Do Classic Comedy sketch at the end, the little bonus comics have been so much fun.

Favorite Quote(s):  There are moments in life when you learn surprising things about yourself. Often it's something you kind of knew already, if you were being honest- sometimes, it's completely out of left field. And So, do you also remember me stopping your plan? After kicking you up the backside?
What I liked most;  Page 26 because lady power.
What I disliked most: PAGE 27.
Rating; 5 out of 5.

Thors #3

I like that the list of Thors had an X through Beta Ray Thor since he died. I just don't know what to do with this series. I'm entertained, I like it more than the Harley Quinn series with multiple Harley's but that's not really saying much. I enjoy Groot Thor, he's adorable. I love the 'look' of the series but crap am I tired of Loki popping up in EVERY Thor comic I've dealt with now. Come on Marvel, he has to have more villains to deal with. I want to like this series but I'm just so mixed with my feelings. I enjoy the over all style but it could just be my 'eh' feeling for the whole Secret Wars series.

Favorite Quote(s):
What I liked most; THE THUNDER ROOM, I can't believe I just read that.
What I disliked most: Damn it I'm just tired of Loki. Also the ending.
Rating; 2.5 out of 5.

Hail Hydra #2

IT GOT SO SAD, SO FAST! I really enjoyed how this played out. I love how Stark was basically a robot and how Hank Pym was basically a huge head. Shannon and Steve were adorable and Ian needs a hug. He's just not having a good day is he? This comics a more interesting Secret Wars comic for me to read because I like the characters and I enjoy the fight scenes that take place since it's certainly a series with a lot of fights in it.

Favorite Quote(s): But I'm only here because of you. Because you trained me to never give up, because like your mother taught you, I always stand up.
What I liked most;  Seeing Steve and Ian interact together.
What I disliked most: VENOMN for reasons...
Rating; 4.5 out of 5.

Groot #4

THIS WAS SO CUTE, I'M SO HAPPY I READ THIS RIGHT AFTER HAIL HYRDRA! Groot talking with Numinus and showing/saying why the Galaxy mattered was super freaking adorable. I'm in love with the art for this comic and how I semi-heard Vin Diesel and Bradly Cooper in my head? I can't wait to get a trade for this for whenever I need a pick me up kind of comic series. This was such a feel good comic to read and I think everyone should read it for the cute factor.

Favorite Quote(s): Good things come to those who wait. Better things come to those who take. And the best things come to those who know how do both.
What I liked most; The art was superb.
What I disliked most:  The fact it ended? No actually page 20 ripped me up inside to be honest.
Rating; 5 out of 5.

Deadpool Vs Thanos #1

I honestly wasn't sure if I'd like this comic. I don't really go out of my way to read Deadpool comics. The only Deadpool thing I've read was Deadpool VS Hawkeye because come on, Clint, Kate and Wade were a hysterical trio. This was still just as fun. The fact it's not a serious tone helps. I'd be horrified to see Deadpool take himself seriously. I'm super pumped for the Deadpool movie but I don't think I'll be buying a bunch of Deadpool individual trades. I like these funny Deadpool VS type comics. The art style is fun and brightly colored and all of his monologues and other conversations with people are very entertaining to read.

Favorite Quote(s): Got him right in the middle of exposition. Figure out the plot now, Wednesday Warriors!
What I liked most; The basic fact Deadpool always has to break the 4th wall.
What I disliked most: Death?
Rating; 4.5 out of 5.

Daredevil #18

This was such a great end to the Mark Waid and co part of Daredevil that I've been catching up on rapidly.  The art throughout the Mark Waid run has been fantastic to read every time I've picked up a 'newer' Daredevil comic. I think the team really did a phenomenal job on Matt and Co. My excitement for the new team, and to see what Mark and co will be doing next for Marvel is overwhelming! This was a great ending to this half of the Daredevil series and I hope the new team has as much fun as Mark Waid did!

Favorite Quote(s): That's not pizza, pizza doesn't make angels cry. Why is there ketchup on it?
What I liked most; The last page was just done so beautifully.
What I disliked most: The Owl, still seems kind of blah in placement but I know the Owl and Jubula will probably be a bigger part of the new half of the comics I'm guessing.
Rating; 5 out of 5.

The Flash season zero #12/it's chapter 23?

I love that this was a Caitlin centric comic. And a Caitlin and Cisco bonding issue! I love them as a team and It's always fun to see it on screen or in this case, read it in the comic. I liked that this gave us some more Caitlin backstory since in the TV verse she hasn't really been giving anyone much info on her past minus the whole Ronnie life before the explosion. Don't get me wrong, I love Caitlin,  I just want more!! I'm excited to see what they'll do with her in the show this season. This issue filled my Caitlin Snow needs though! Nice job writers!
Favorite Quote(s): Who made you? Who helped you into the ''you'' that you are today? Was it your friends? Your family? The people you work with? Or was there one person who helped you the most, someone who reached down from their place high above and pulled you up to their level? Who made you? More importantly do they still have power over you?
What I liked most; That Starwars VS Harry Potter mentor style conversation. Oh and the ''sonic wrench'' instead of a Sonic Screwdriver.
What I disliked most: Shady teacher being shady?
Rating; 5 out of 5.

Green Arrow #44

George is gigantic, Jesus Christ. All I care about honestly is the George not getting killed by the bone guys and kind of Ollie? Oh and why he uses maple syrup in his coffee. I'm kind of tempted to try that to be honest to see if it tastes any good. This was an interesting comic, nothing phenomenal but the art was cool and I loved how the white wolves looked

Favorite Quote(s): Kyra's not talking about my religion, my politics, my curious habit of sweetening my coffee with maple syrup..
What I liked most;  The monologue Ollie had about getting close with women.
What I disliked most: Poor Kyra being pushed to the side.
Rating; 3.5 out of 5.

DC Comics Bombshells #2

Diana and her soldier boy Steve are cute, Mera is funny, the airplane co-pilot sisters Supergirl and Stargirl are still lovely but still look far too similar for me to get them apart, and Joker's Daughter was disgusting  yet lovely. I didn't know Zatanna or Constantine was going to be in this one! That made me super happy. Seriously the whole smoking English cigarettes, the two of them speaking German, just yes to all of that. THE FACT THEY MADE HIM INTO A RABBIT LIKE THE STATUE ALSO MADE ME REALLY HAPPY. And him being a 'spy' just made me filled with glee. I googled what ''Ich Halte Dich'' means and it translates to ''I think you are'' so now I'm kind of confused? But I don't speak German soo. Over all, cool comic, the last one was my favorite.
Favorite Quote(s): ''Do you have to sing the charms Mera?''
''Oh, not at all but my voice is awfully pretty.''
''Still playing games, John?''
''Still winning them.''
What I liked most;
What I disliked most:
Rating; 5 out of 5.

Toil and Trouble #1 of 6

Actual proper description: The three fates—Riata, Cait, and Smertae—have always been guiding and protecting Scotland unseen, indirectly controlling the line of kings according to the old religion. When there is a disagreement in the sisterhood Riata and Smertae will use men as pawns, and Smertae will direct Macbeth to a crown he was never meant to have.

So this was Macbeth but focused on the witches/fates of the prophecy that totally fuck up Macbeth's life. I loved this. The art was beautiful and the three witches were each so unique in design and each so very beautiful. I'm ecstatic this is a six part comic and will get to read/review all of them! I love when characters feel guilty for messing up other peoples lives then do something completely and utterly drastic to try and fix it all when they have the chance.
Favorite Quote(s): The fight is never over, until I declare it.
What I liked most; The art, it was like water color but way better. The fates are so pretty.
What I disliked most: The prince is a little shit. But he's supposed to be so that's just me being annoyed with the prince. Nothing to do with the writers.
Rating; 5 out of 5.
