The Dark Avenger's Top Picks For November 11, 2015

Top Picks for November 11, 2015

By Chris Ventura

This was a really hefty week for books, quite possibly one of the longer of my top pick lists to date! All New All Different Marvel powers on, and FINALLY Secret Wars actually continues. DC starts up a new miniseries and continues its weekly series. Image has a returning title this week and I’m really looking forward to this next chapter of the series. Double Take returns this week with their 10 issue #2’s, interesting books if you like a unique takes on the Night of The Living Dead Universe. So with all these new series beginning we must now make our choices of which books are worthy of a pickup and which do we leave behind. Lots of Books in the “Other Books To Consider” category worthy of a check out as well. So without further a due the Top Picks.

Top Picks:

SUPERMAN AMERICAN ALIEN #1
-The 7 issue mini telling the tale of young Clark before he becomes one of the world’s greatest heroes. I’m excited to see where this series takes us and honestly I have no clue what to expect from DC. For a Superman Fan this is a must read, honestly I don’t see many non-Superman Fans picking this title up.

BATMAN AND ROBIN ETERNAL #6
-This weekly series hasn’t lost steam yet and it’s SIX issues in now. With Dick left alone to figure out who he can and can’t trust does he risk losing friends because of it. A really strong story for a weekly, DC finally delivers on a weekly and I’m sure all you Eternal fans are as happy as me.

JUSTICE LEAGUE DARKSEID WAR: GREEN LANTERN #1 / SHAZAM #1
-The next set of Darkseid War one shots. Green Lantern runs back to OA which definitely separates this further out of continuity, Shazam has me a bit more interested since he will be going to take on the new gods. Again both of these one shots my recommendation is go with the heroes you like and not with the heroes you don’t.

MIRROR'S EDGE: EXORDIUM #3
-Any Mirror's Edge fan will be checking this book out. This book has gorgeous artwork and helps develop Faiths story after Mirror's Edge 1 and before 2. Faith's journey to becoming a true runner takes her to meet the oldest runner which I find very interesting. Also how she will finally get her mom's painting?!

BIRTHRIGHT #11
-The return of one of my favorite series from Image. I’m really excited to see the journey of Mike from boy to warrior and what happens along the way to change him and lead him to where he is now in the book. Image has released A LOT of really great series that are in my top. Birthright is a really great series I can recommend from issue 1 to now, if you haven’t tried this series out yet the first 2 trades leading into this issue are out now.

THORS #4
-This series has been on my top favorite Secret Wars minis. The murderer has been revealed and now it’s up to Thor Leaf to stop them. It’s been awhile since issue 3 but still really excited to see how this ends.

SECRET WARS #7
-While I’m sure a lot of people are over this event series now that All New All Different Marvel has already begun, I still am curious how it all ends. This series has been plagued with delays and problems; I’m just hoping the ending is worth the extra issue and the wait. I feel this would have done a lot better if not for all of the setbacks and delays.

CAPTAIN AMERICA WHITE #4
-This has been a fun miniseries for me as well. If you a fan of the other colored books (Spider-Man, Hulk, Daredevil) this is a newer type with cap focusing more on Bucky. This is a fun story of the WWII days with Bucky and Cap and Tim Sales art work fits perfectly with this book. Something to consider for sure.

SPIDER-MAN 2099 #3
-Miguel lost it all in the last issue, now back as Spider-Man he looks to find the person that targeted him and get his revenge. The art is really nice in this book minus a few minor things and the story is really interesting, one of my favorites in the Spider family books.

ALL NEW ALL DIFFERENT AVENGERS #1
-A composite team of several familiar and unfamiliar faces in the Avenger line come together again when the earth is threatened from space. This team has me the most interested out of all the Avenger books; this seems to be THE Avenger book. I’m excited for this series…not so much the 6 dollars for the first issue but again with all Marvel #1’s I tell everyone buy what you like and skip what you don’t until you hear something that changes your mind.

ALL NEW WOLVERINE #1
-The continuation of X-23’s story now as the new Wolverine. For X-23 fans this is an exciting time because we haven’t had and X-23 book in a while and while 616 Logan is gone (for now) I couldn’t think of a better person to take up the mantle.

CARNAGE #1
-Could this be good, after SEVERAL miniseries we now are given a Carnage ongoing. I’m skeptical because of all the failed miniseries but at the same time this series has me interested and if Venom can keep doing it over and over why not Carnage. Worth a check out and its NOT 6 dollars for the first issue.

ULTIMATES #1
-The Avengers version of the Web Warriors. This is a team that can hop through as they call it the “Omniverse”. Fixing and dealing with problems of epic proportion. I’m really interested to see if this will work out better than Web Warriors or go the exact same route. Ironically Web Warriors comes out this week too only difference is this book is 4 dollars while Web Warriors is 6.
