Joe Manganiello Cast as Deathstroke in Ben Affleck’s Batman Movie!
Last week Ben Afleck posted test footage of Deathstroke on his Facebook. The footage was shot from the set of Justice League in London. Since then fans have been speculating on who is behind the mask, and when will he first appear in the DC Cinematic Universe (DCCU). Well one of those questions are answered through an interview with DC Entertainment President and Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns with The Wall Street Journal, that Joe Manganiello will be playing Slade Wilson/Deathstroke in the Batman movie.
While we do not know if it was in fact Manganiello in the suit on the video, he was also in London at the time, so most likely it is him. The interview also gives some insight into the state of some DC Films. Manganiello has been rumored for the role for a few weeks now, and has in the past been rumored for the roles of both Superman in Man of Steel, and Batman in Batman V. Superman.
Slade Wilson has made a few other live-action appearances. In the tenth and final season of Smallville and was played by Michael Hogan. Most recently he appeared in the second season of Arrow, and portrayed by Manu Bennett.
Johns declined to say where else Deathstroke may pop up in the DCCU, or when the Batman movie will be released. What we do know though is that Johns and Affleck are writing the script for the new Batman movie, which will be directed by Affleck. The earliest the movie can hit theaters will be 2018.
