Since
Supergirl was announced fans have wondered what if any connection it would have with the rest of the
DCTV shows. Last year in the
Supergirl/The Flash crossover we found out that
Kara is a part of the
Arrowverse, but not in the Prime Universe, but in the Multiverse within it. New hope came when
The CW announced that they will be picking up
Supergirl for season 2 after
CBS opted not to renew it. Fans went into overdrive with theories on how they work the show into the
Arrowverse Prime Universe with
The Flash doing
Flashpoint this season, an epic 4-part crossover, as well as a musical crossover between
Supergirl and
The Flash were announced. Now through an interview with
Entertainment Weekly we finally have our answer.
As revealed during The Flash-Supergirl crossover last year, Supergirl hails from a different universe. Are you planning on bringing Supergirl into our universe?
-Entertainment Weekly
Not for her entire world, but Kara will be traveling from her dimension to our dimension, “our” being the world that The Flash, Arrow, and Legends lives in.
-Andrew Kreisberg
This should end speculation on whether or not
Flashpoint would unite the universes. The
Flashpoint storyline that kicked off the third season of
The Flash, centering on an alternate timeline triggered when
Barry Allen traveled through time to prevent his mother’s murder. Even though
The Flash set things right by allowing his mother to be killed by
Reverse Flash the world he returned to wasn't exactly the same. The series introduced the concept of a multiverse in Season 2, with
The Flash journeying to Earth-2 as well as
Supergirl’s world, that fans have since dubbed Earth-CBS.
Even though
Kreisberg has shot down that theory it doesn't mean that the two universes may never merge. Since season 1 of
The Flash they have eluded to
Crisis on Infinite Earths, a comic event where
Barry Allen died saving all of reality and merging multiple Earths in the Multiverse into one unified Earth. The only problem is that isn't supposed to happen until 2024, if you believe what you read in newspapers from the future.
Supergirl airs Mondays at 8 pm ET, and stars
Melissa Benoist as
Supergirl,
David Harewood as
Martian Manhunter,
Mehcad Brooks as
James "Jimmy" Olsen,
Chyler Leigh as
Alex Danvers and
Jeremy Jordan as
Winn Schott, with appearances by
Calista Flockhart as
Cat Grant and
Tyler Hoechlin as
Superman. The second season makes the leap from
CBS to
The CW October 10, 2016.
