Mimi's Rapid Fire Review's for Batwoman Rebirth #1, Green Arrow #17, Daredevil #17 and more!

Hi world, my name's Mimi Schweid and here's my reviews for Angel Season 11 #2, Batwoman Rebirth #1, Green Arrow #17, Super Sons #1, The Wild Storm #1, Captain America Sam Wilson #19, Daredevil #17, Patsy Walker AKA Hellcat #15, Silk #17, Gamora #3, and Star-Lord #3!
Angel Season 11 #2
Oh Angel & Fred, you two are such a fun duo to read. I wish I could see this season on TV, It looks like it would be so amazing with the right graphics. Just imagining Angel now instead of when it was originally on air is fantastic but a girl can only dream. At least I get to 'see' it in comic form.

I have yet to read the other seasons of Angel but I'm happy that from watching the show and the little catch ups before the issues start I can be OK while reading.

I'm also happy this ended up not being an Angelus flash back issue. I'm not saying I don't enjoy Angelus insanity and over all horror, but I'm happy I got to see something totally new. That doesn't mean I'm not excited for some dramatic Angelus stuff to happen, which it totally will this season given how that vision took place in issue one, but I'm happy it hasn't started off that way just yet.

I'm looking forward to next months issue and am excited to see how Angel and Fred deal with facing ''true form''  of Fred's ''lovely'' demon Goddess half.

  • What I liked most: Angel & Fred talking to that random Illyria supporter.
  • What I disliked most:  The ending was meh.

Batwoman Rebirth #1
I'm intrigued by the current style of the new batch of Rebirth stories having a COMING SOON TO THE PAGES OF, page. I honestly don't remember that being a thing in the previous Rebirth series. Nevertheless, let me get onto the actual issue.

Batwoman Rebirth has some of my favorite art styles so I'm digging that factor. I'm also a sucker for the age flash backs that are both jumbled but easy to keep up with. I'm excited to learn more about Katherine ''Kate'' Kane than I already currently know. What I'm looking forward to most of all is probably the exact scene in which the Detective Comics gang she's been training pop up in her life while she's off saving the world just ''happening to be in the area'' sort of situation that I feel will have to happen at some point.

Kate's an awesome character, I've always enjoyed her in whatever series Kat or my friend Phil have thrown my way. I hope this series continues for a long time and Kate gets some more love again.

  • What I liked most: The flash back format.
  • What I disliked most:  The ending felt a little weird to me.

''And not even my birthday. Aren't I spoiled?''

Green Arrow #17
This cover had me laughing for a solid minute. The fact everyone but Diggle is all bloody and ripped up is fantastic.

Do you hear that reader? It's me shouting ''FAN SERVICE!!!'' over that shirtless Ollie page. This weeks comics seem to be filled with fan service and I'm not complaining, I'm just entertained by it.

One of the things I love most about this series is that Ollie get's to be a politically aware asshole and tries to fix things as much as possible in his own ''special'' way. I'm all for this slow burning crazy cult stuff that's been going on since the start of the series. I appreciate the fact this series has that over all arching story-line to follow through while still having this six part mini-arch's that fit into the main story. It's just a fun way of story-telling that I'm happy to say I've been reading for freaking seventeen issues. I am  also looking forward to return of Roy Harper and the eventual appearance of Tommy!

  • What I liked most: Emi & Ollie bonding.
  • What I disliked most: BAD DIGGLE, VERY BAD DIGGLE!

''Yes.''

Super Sons #1

After reading this issue I did put it on my pull list. This seems like it's going to give me a Young Justice style thrill with these adorable dweebs trying to fight crime while the ''big guys'' go out and actually fight crime. Of course they'll probably stop some on the way but they are freaking children-children, not teenagers that tend to get away with more. Nevertheless, I'm all for Damien and John teaming up together. Especially since I've never actually read anything with John in it until this issue that I can recall.

Damien is such a little shit and John seems like such a sweet-heart. I'm also curious as to who else will cameo in this series as well as how many bizarre discuses Damien will wear to pop up on John like he did in this issue alone.

I'm only slightly disappointed that they are already pulling out the Lex card but that's just me..

  • What I liked most: The child like fun of this issue.
  • What I disliked most:  ROCK SNOWBALLS? Bastard kids..

''You lied to me!''

''Not true! I simply didn't tell you everything!''

The Wildstorm #1
If this was a TV show pilot you would've heard me say, ''What the FUCK did I just watch?'' In this case, it's more of a ''What did I just read?'' I mean this in a good way though.

This was such a weird comic and I'm pumped to read issue 2. I hope it's 24 issues like the top of the cover makes it seem like it might be. Either way, it's been far too long since I've read a Warren Ellis comic so I'm happy to have something of his now on my pull-list.

I kind of have no idea what just happened but the world I've just ''stepped into'' seems like one I'm going to enjoy no matter how weird I feel while reading it. I don't really have a true ''feeling'' for any character just yet, I'm not ''rooting'' for anyone because, like a pilot episode of a TV show,  I got the names of a few characters and some vague back story that I feel will be cleared up in future issues. Right now, I feel like I just watched/read a really cool thing and I want more of said thing and am hoping I don't have to wait too long for issue 2.

  • What I liked most: How vibrant the colors were.
  • What I disliked most:  Kind of a lack of knowing peoples names. Love the code name thing though.

Captain America Sam Wilson #19

SAM JUST WANT'S TO DO THE RIGHT THING AND IT KEEPS ON BLOWING UP IN HIS FACE. SAM NEED'S ALL THE HUGS AND ALOCHOL HE CAN HANDLE ASAP. Rage also needs a big old hug as well as a pat on the back. I'm really proud of this fictional pair, you know as proud as I can be for fictional characters I have nothing to do with but writing reviews for/about.

I always say this but I love that this series ''goes there'' and deals with the issues that Steve wouldn't have to deal with in the way that Sam does. The fact they are putting Rage through this trial and most likely being either sentenced to jail or death, is ''intense'' and something that I appreciate as a reader. I love this series and am excited to eventually get it all in trade form to have on my ever growing bookshelf.

I also appreciate the fact that this doesn't feel like a dragged out story line, it's been a thing going on for quite some time but still feels ''fresh'' while it's being dealt with.

  • What I liked most: SAM SEEMED SO PROUD WHEN HE GOT THE SPEED GUY. Precious lil ray of sunshine.
  • What I disliked most:  Stupid judge. I mean yeah, of course he'd be a dick but still..

Daredevil #17
Now that's how you do a filler issue people. I mean, really, it gave me all of this fantastic back story as to what the Hell's been going on with Matt. He clearly worked hard to get his life the way it used to be, with people not knowing he's Daredevil and Matt Murdock. The amount of effort he put into this is pretty hysterical to me.

I love Matt and Kirsten together so to say I loved all of the flash-back stuff is an understatement. This issue did put a lot of missing pieces into place and is clearly going to give me more next issue. Which I appreciate. While I'm worried about Blindspot I don't mind waiting to get back to his story as this back-story is coming into place at last. It's been a long run for me to finally get some information as to what Matt did to make everyone forget his super-hero-ness and I'm pleased with how it's turning out.

  • What I liked most: Matt's love for Kirsten, oh man, guys, readers, it's just so cute.
  • What I disliked most:  THE PURPLE KIDS WORRY ME.

Patsy Walker AKA Hellcat #15

Oh Patsy, my sweet little Hellcat. I love this series for everything that it deals with as a whole as well as little things like this. The sheer fact Patsy just fought a stuffed animal from her childhood is hysterically stupid but just manages to work for this adorable and campy series. I love it though, I love every second of this series and I'm thrilled it exists. The fact they combined Valentine's Day and Christmas for a party is far too cute for it's own damn good.

This is just one of those series that I'm thrilled I get to read because it's light but still deals with dramatic issues. This one was just a ''simple'' one but still fun nevertheless. Patsy's rant to Mr. Sniffles was fantastic and of course ended up being my favorite quote of the issue. How could it not be?

  • What I liked most: America with the Maple Leaf, she was so angry!
  • What I disliked most:  Lack of Jen?

''What have you to cower before that can best me?''
''Are you serious? Death. Taxes. Cramps. The Babadook. Space aliens. Civil Wars. Climate chance. Stalkers. Guys who call you ugly after you turn them down. Never being able to live up to what my best friend expects me to be. Bed bugs. Hornets. Rent hikes. Dying alone. Not to mention LITERALLY EVERYTHING happening in politics right now! Have you SEEN the news?! Now that, THAT is scary.''

Silk #17

Awe shit, Cindy Moon can't catch a break can she? This girl needs a hug and a girls day ASAP. WHY MUST CLONE STORIES ALWAYS BE SO SAD? WHY CAN'T THEY HAVE HAPPY ENDINGS? I know this isn't the end to the series but DAMN can't Clone's get happy endings too?

Anyways, this was a super dramatic issue all across the board. Not a single page did I not go ''Damn'' over something happening to Cindy and Co. I hope that next month's issue is a little less ''damn, punch me in the gut with feels'' and more ''woo-hoo, something nice happened!'' instead. I never thought I'd actually feel bad for Jonah and yet, here I am, wanting to give the guy some tissues and alcohol on my way to give Cindy some hugs and ice cream.

  • What I liked most: Peter's entertaining entrance.
  • What I disliked most:  That insanely sad ending. My GOD.

Gamora #3

So this series makes me constantly go ''SLAY GIRL SLAY'' every time Gamora fights someone. This is such an awesome series, I'm in love with the art, with Gamora's dramatic as all Hell monologues, L'Wit's monologues, it's just fantastic. I'm all for bad-ass ladies kicking ass even if Gamora did try to kill her. I appreciate the fact she gave L'Wit a weapon to fight back with even though It blew up in her face.

Something I appreciate about this issue is the fact it wasn't predictable for me and it built more into Gamora's character. It wasn't an over the top reveal for the ending, I got more of this weird little trash plant's back story and I got more information on both L'Wit and Gamora. Also if I can get some more of Gamora dealing with crazy cults every issue, that'd be just fine with me. Give me more insanely sarcastic as well as brilliant Gamora like this ASAP.

  • What I liked most: That ending!
  • What I disliked most:  Gamora, hunny, don't be so self-deprecating, it's okay!!

Star Lord #3
I can't tell if it's a bad thing or not that when I read Peter's dialogue I heard Chris Pratt in my head and Charlie Cox for Daredevil?

ANYWAYS, this was another fun issue. I appreciate the fact Peter's actually analyzing his life choices now that his sister (who I didn't know about) want's to kill him and that he's still doing community service.

This is one of those ''light'' series I get to read. I enjoy it for what it is and am happy that it's actually a ''thing'' I get to read. Peter's an entertaining self-destructive character that is also a loveable guy. He's also a bit of an idiot. He's a loveable self-destructive idiot basically.

I'm excited to see more of Peter and Daredevil work together, it already was an enjoyable thing to see and I'm all for it happening throughout this Star Lord series every couple of issues. I just love it when they let New York based characters actually interact with each other as much as they currently do in Star Lord.  The fact it doesn't feel like a ''Star Lord and Friends/Enemies'' read is also something I appreciate about the writing. It doesn't feel crowded either so bravo Star Lord team!
  • What I liked most: Fan-service, HE LITERALLY SPARKLES. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?
  • What I disliked most: Poor Diamond Head, that looks like it hurt..
  • Rating:  5 out of 5
