DreamWorks Animation Television and Netflix Debut Season 3 Trailer of DreamWorks Voltron Legendary Defender At SDCC
The success of Zarkon's defeat comes at a price: Shiro has vanished. With the ascension of the mysterious Prince Lotor and without a pilot for the Black Lion, the team must somehow find the strength to keep fighting. But how can they defend the universe without Voltron? Find out when all-new episodes of Voltron Legendary Defender season three comes to Netflix, August 4. 2017.
The panel included Executive Producer Joaquim Dos Santos, Co-Executive Producer Lauren Montgomery, Bex Taylor-Klaus (Pidge), and Tyler Labine (Hunk). Attendees at the panel were treated to an early look at the first episode of season 3! The episode is ends with Keith saying "It's time to figure out how to reform Voltron" which was received with huge cheers from the crowd! The panel then took some questions.
Question: What's it like watching this with a big crowd like this?
Dos Santos: Watching this... just every time you guys make a sound I get chills.
Question: How many episodes will we see in season 3?
Dos Santos: There are only 7 episodes in season 3 but there's another drop in October.
Montgomery add that they'll drop in smaller doses but the fans will get more episodes overall.
Question: What's coming up for the new season and the journeys that the characters will be on.
Taylor-Klaus: Pidge's journey is to find her family specifically. She then says says its fun to go through the ups and downs of her story and that she's excited for the possibilities this season presents.
Question: What in store for Hunk this season?
Labine: (jokingly) Hunk is probably planning to convert the lions into space food trucks to feed the galaxy. But on a serious note, Hunk plays an integral part to the team because his levity is important as juxtaposition how dark this season gets. Hunk has found his legs... he is a leg!
The panel then briefly discusses the Blade of Marmora where Montogomery says that not everyone knows that the Blade of Marmora don't agree with the rest of the empire.
The discussion then steers to Prince Lotor which receives big cheers from the crowd! Lotor in being voiced by AJ LoCascio, who also voiced Marty McFly for the Back To The Future Telltale Games.
Question: What about the creation of his character can you tell us?
Dos Santos: Hopefully, we'll get to learn about what makes Zarkon, Zarkon but Lotor isn't like that.
Montgomery: Our villains don't have to be 100% evil from day one and that's Lotor.
Dos Santos: Lotor has a team of "top generals".
Montgomery: He's looking for the best people to do the job and he found these four women who fit his way of doing thing.

Dos Santos: Hopefully, we'll get to learn about what makes Zarkon, Zarkon but Lotor isn't like that.
Montgomery: Our villains don't have to be 100% evil from day one and that's Lotor.
Dos Santos: Lotor has a team of "top generals".
Montgomery: He's looking for the best people to do the job and he found these four women who fit his way of doing thing.
Dos Santos: Likens Lotor to Maximus from Gladiator in terms of motivation.

Montogomery: The name change was a tribute to a dog that was in the SoundWorks studio who passed.
Question: What can we expect from the team dynamic moving forward?
Montgomery: Everyone on our team is not quite as fully evolved as a leader as Shiro is but they need to get there...
Question: For the producers - How did you get to working on the show?
Dos Santos: We grew up loving this medium and I think it's just part of our dna to be honest. If you're passionate about something and you truly believe you have it in you, it's going to happen... Just don't stop.
Montgomery: There's multiple paths to getting where we've been... Just don't be afraid to start with any avenue... Just don't allow what other people to dissuade you if it's something you believe in.
Dos Santos: Working under other, more knowledgeable people helped as well and not to be afraid of that.
Labine: You need to just keep banging on doors and believing in what you want to make.
Question: Is Lance is the oldest, middle or youngest in his family?
Montgomery: He's toward the younger end of the spectrum but he's a well-rounded guy.
Question: What is Keith's race?
Dos Santos: We've got stuff we're holding on for you guys.
Question: Is Hunk's name is his real name or a nickname.
Montogomery: The name change was a tribute to a dog that was in the SoundWorks studio who passed.
