ABC hosted a jaw-dropping 360-degree fan experience created exclusively for SDCC 2017 featuring hologram technology. Fans who visited the ABC Booth will be fully immersed into the worlds of Once Upon a Time and the new drama series The Crossing, where they will have the opportunity to interact with dynamic characters and environments like never before.
After six seasons, the residents of the enchanted forest enter Season 7 facing their greatest challenge yet as the Evil Queen, Captain Hook and Rumplestiltskin join forces with a grown-up Henry Mills (no played by Andrew J West) and his daughter Lucy (portrayed by Alison Fernandez)on an epic quest to bring hope to their world and ours. Along the way, new fairy tale characters and old search for true love, find adventure and take sides in the ongoing struggle of good against evil as classic tales are once again twisted and reimagined.
ABC has already announced that new cast member Dania Ramirez will be playing another version of Cinderella. This new iteration will also be Henry's (Andrew J. West) wife, and mother to Lucy (Allison Fernandez). It was announced at SDCC 2017 that Gabrielle Anwar will be taking on the villain role this season as Cinderella's wicked stepmother, Lady Tremaine. As for the recurring stars, Adelaide Kane will be playing a wicked step-sister; Mekia Cox will be taking on the role of Tiana from Disney's Princess and The Frog; and Rose Reynolds will be playing a new version of Alice from Alice In Wonderland.
For all of those worried that there may be too much change, have no fear it was officially confirmed by the creators that Lana Parrilla (Regina), Robert Carlyle (Gold) and Colin O'Donohue (Hook) will not be playing alternate universe iterations of their beloved characters. This season will revolve around the three of them having to go rescue Henry when he falls victim to an unknown threat.
Jennifer Morrison (Emma Swan) departed the show as a series regular at the end of Season 6, but has recently posted photos on Instagram showing her last day on set with Jared Gilmore (original Henry) and O'Donohue. WIth Swan’s fate still unknown some fans are worried that the Savior may meet her end in the Season 7 premiere. While others hope that the love both creators have for the character that they will come up with something else.
The shows changes are plentiful with shifting locations from Storybrooke, Maine, to Seattle, Washington, the creators of the series have teased a few more details of what fans can expect in the upcoming season. The season will open with Henry leaving Storybrooke to find his own happily ever after. He knows it's out there somewhere, just not in Storybrooke. A teaser shown at the end of the panel also gave viewers their first glimpses what to expect for the returning characters and how they have changed. Hook was seen dressed as a cop while Regina appeared to be stepping down from her former mayoral duties, as a local bartender.
Other details were spilled, without giving too much away. We will see the story center on the many old storybooks that Henry discovered in the Sorcerer's mansion back in Season 5. The books will have a wide variety of stories to tell, with many different versions of the characters that make up his seriously complicated family tree. Speaking of his family tree, O'Donohue teased fans of Henry having a possible sibling.
“They love each other and it’s true love, and they’re married, so the next logical step for them would be to consider whether or not they should have a baby.”
- Colin O'Donohue
