Power Rangers Week - Day 7: Top 21 Series!

Currently, Power Rangers is celebrating 25 continuous years on the air, making it one of the longest running kids’ live-action series in television history with nearly 900 episodes aired to date. Created by Haim Saban and launched in 1993 with Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, the franchise celebrates its milestone anniversary year with the 25th season, Power Rangers Super Ninja Steel currently airing on Saturdays at 12 p.m. (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon in the U.S. To mark this Morphinomenal was the first OFFICIAL POWER RANGERS DAY! But I don't think a day is enough, so here on Comic Frontline this is POWER RANGERS WEEK! A week filled with my list of Tops such as Top Seasons, Top Theme Song/Intros etc and to celebrate today I will be counting down the Top Seasons!

21. Mighty Morphin' Alien Rangers

The ONLY reason why this is in this spot is that it was only 10 episodes and the Alien Rangers were underutilized in their own season. But the great things about the season was that we got our first female leader of a Ranger team and the very first male Yellow Ranger.

20. Power Rangers Megaforce / Super Megaforce

This show suffered from so many things including bad acting and worst writing. Everything felt like it was a show with a real low budget sloppy editing no respect for fans or past Rangers in a series that was supposed to be celebrating the franchise that was built on both.

19. Power Rangers Samurai / Super Samurai

The show misappropriated the plot from Samurai Sentai Shinkenger and did a lot of close adaptation but come on the "Shiba House" They really should have done something more original. The best part was keeping the secret sister and bringing in Lauren.

18. Power Rangers Operation Overdrive

Something about this series just makes it hard to get the feel of the Power Rangers. While the show wasn't horrible the show had a different vibe to it and the chemistry of the cast was off. This is also the season where the Rangers actually gave up the first time things got tough, not Rangerly.

17. Power Rangers Ninja Steel / Super Ninja Steel

Ninja Steel / Super Ninja Steel isn't bad, it just suffers from simple writing. The series drives home the moral of the week each episode that it feels like they are beating it over your head. I also think the overuse and forcing of Victor and Monty hurt the series.

16. Power Rangers Mystic Force

The season did a great job with the darker tones, but it was the mixing of the darker and the lighter that held it back some.

15. Power Rangers Turbo

Coming off of a movie this season had a different season than most it also had the only child Ranger and the changing of the guard.

14. Power Rangers Wild Force

Wild Force had a lot of strengths but the down side was the overdoing and repetitiveness really hurt the season but it did a great job balancing that out with the stories about Cole's parents, Master Org, and Merrick / Zen Aku.

13. Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue

The season that took the risk to give us the first American-made Ranger did such a great job delivering on all points. Yes it had some weak spots like Vypra and Trakeena's Revenge but overall I enjoyed the series.

12. Power Rangers Dino Charge / Dino Super Charge

Coming off two of the worst seasons in Power Rangers Dino Charge / Dino Super Charge had to step up the game on all fronts and it did. Even with a cast of Rangers as large as it had and the limitation of twenty episodes per season Dino Charge and Dino Super Charge managed to pull off a great story that had everything the Neo-Saban era had been lacking up until that point from cast chemistry, to plot, to writing, to acting everything here was Super Dino Charged and it was great.

11. Power Rangers Dino Thunder

This was honestly one of the best Legacy seasons we every got, and it wasn't even an anniversary season, and maybe the best performance of Jason David Frank to date. No one on the show did the Tommy worship, he was finally a part of a team not the core focus of it.

10. Power Rangers S.P.D.

This is why the Disney Era may very well be the best era ever. S.P.D. really gave us a show on another scale. Everything here was fresh and different with a real police force as Rangers, a set of evil Rangers, a new take on a Sixth Ranger, the way the team came together and evolved.

9. Power Rangers Jungle Fury

Jungle Fury is another underrated season but it really does deliver. For the first time we have a real human villain, not someone who is part dinosaur, or a mutant or anything else, yes he was possessed by an evil spirit but even before that he was dark. The season wasn't just the journey of the Rangers but also of the villains with them turning good and joining the Rangers. Not to mention we got not one but three of the most original American-Mad Rangers.

8. Power Rangers Ninja Storm

Disney took over Power Rangers and had to prove themselves and they succeeded with Ninja Storm right from the start with the opening theme song / intro we knew this was a different show and the first to stray away from the Saban formula showing that fans can adapt. We had a team of three Rangers to start, the first regular full season of Power Rangers to showcase a male Yellow Ranger. Everything about this season was just epic it felt like you were on a journey with the Rangers.

7. Power Rangers Lost Galaxy

This series had big shoes to fill with In Space being so epic, and it delivered. Not just with the first team up, and bringing in Karone but on its own it was done really well with a great team that each had a role to play. Not to mention the way they handled the "death" of Kendrix. Yes we know that Valerie Vernon was sick and had to leave, but the way her character was the heart of that team with a connection to them all so her death was truly felt was just great writing and planning.

6. Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers

Where it all started! From the second I saw the first commercial and thought "Live Action Voltron!" I was hooked, but the fun and camp help make this series so endearing to fans.

5. Power Rangers Zeo

After three years of Mighty Morphin' they took a big bold move to change it up with new suits and a new look. This was also the point where the stories took a step up and Austin St. John's return as Jason was a great addition!

4. Power Rangers HyperForce

HYPERFORCE!!!! This is what Megaforce / Super Megaforce should have been. Everything about this is 100% a celebration of the 25 years of Power Rangers, from the cast, to the guest stars, to the missions every episode made you proud to be a fan. Even the acting on HyperForce was impressive everyone and everything involved in this production was a true Super Mega Win!

3. Power Rangers R.P.M.

R.P.M. should have been the next In Space it was just as epic, and should have saved the show as well, but Disney put it on at a bad time, no promotion and less budget but the show was still one of the best seasons of Power Rangers ever made and one of the most underrated.

2. Power Rangers Time Force

I'm a huge sci-fi fan and Time Force plays right into that. But that isn't all that Time Force is, it is the first series that really put a female character at the forefront, it also told great character stories and relationship dynamics.

1. Power Rangers Space

A space opera with everything you'd want. The series was in danger facing cancellation when In Space threw everything we never knew we wanted from Power Rangers. A great team dynamic, a multi-dimensional villain, big reveals, big drama balance with the right amount of comedy, epic battle, and who doesn't like a great "I am Spartacus" moment?
