Bonnie is in the maze and must use magic to escape or be eaten by a man-pig. Parrott is three for three! I have been thoroughly enjoying Oberon, the world building where he takes from Greek Mythology, Shakespeare and Fairy Tales is just amazing. At the same time, he is building two solid mysteries one from the past with what got Oberon banned and one in the present in who is Bonnie, and I can not wait to discover both. While Parrott pulls from multiple sources to deliver the story so does Slavkovic with the art. Overall if you're not reading Oberon get in on it now while the series is still new. ~ Jay @ComicBookTheate

"The Good, The Bad, And The Sons"

The Super Sons are stuck on Leone-5, a planet modeled after the Wild West of Earth including Jonah Hex, and they will need his help to rob a train and escape the planet. I love this book it is so much fun! Tomasi does such a great job balancing out the plot with character moments, like the small quips between Jon and Damian that bring in some fun while expanding their friendship. I wasn't sure what to think of when I saw Jonah here, but Tomasi really sold me on him making him feel like an old Clint Eastwood character. Godlewski did a great job with the art keeping the overall aesthetic intact. Overall this is probably my favorite DC Comic out right now and with those missing four adventures, perhaps we can get more Super Sons after this maxi-series? ~ Jay @ComicBookTheate

With most of the team being held by Dark Opal, it is up to Conner & Bart to rescue them while we learn more about Amythest and what has been happening on Gemworld. Man, this title continues to have me torn. I thought this was a really cool story but felt like it is in a time warp. If this was 1999 this would be a great story but these characters have all grown beyond this point in their lives and Conner is a real conundrum for me. Gleason and Timms does a great job with that classic feel and brings back that era. Overall it feeds the nostalgic bug but I need for it to fit the present and explain why they have all regressed. ~ Jay @ComicBookTheate

Wakanda is celebrating high Vibranium mining when Mother Nature tears through it, and it is up to its kind to save his people. IDW has been killing it with their Marvel Action line! This is the best Black Panther I have read in a long time, I get to know who people are, I get action, I get a mystery and I get some humor, I mean who doesn't like a little Timon and Pumbaa? Add the art of Samu to this story and the book becomes even better with his fun animated style. Overall IDW has assembled three great books creating a comic book version of a Saturday Morning animated line-up. ~ Jay @ComicBookTheate
PAPER GIRLS #27

Paper Girls #27 puts the theme back in the forefront as Brian K Vaughan and Cliff Chiang check in on the girls’ individual adventures. This issue does a great job of showcasing each girls’ character journeys, but I wish there were even more pages to spend a significant amount of time with the girls. That’s the one negative of keeping them apart for this last arc. Cliff Chiang showcases such diversity with this arc’s different settings and relates them well with the girls' character journeys. Paper Girls has always been about symbolism and character, and Paper Girls #27 is a good reminder of that as we head into the final issues of the series. ~ Kat @ComicUno

While the Champions take on Kaldera, Miles tells Kamala about his deal with Mephisto who loops his sone Blackheart into the reason why he did it. Jim Zub is the best thing that ever happened to this title and I keep enjoying the heck out of this book! You really feel Mile's emotions here as he breaks down and tells Kamala what he and Amadeus did. My one problem was the conclusion to the fight between Kaldera and Sam, it felt so rush and lacking. Cummings is killing it with the art creating some great action scenes here and I love his panel flow. Overall this is one of the best and most consistent books Marvel is putting out. ~ Jay @ComicBookTheate

The Hulks continue to rise, and it’s Rick Jones’ time to shine. I was sucked in by Jones’ narration as the story in his book relates directly to the monster theme building with the whole Hulk family. Joe Bennett’s pencils and Paul Mounts's colors continue to create for the perfect haunting tone. I especially enjoyed Bennett's new design for Betty as she hides in the shadows. The Immortal Hulk continues to impress and has quickly become one of my favorite titles at Marvel. ~ Kat @ComicUno

A soldier from another universe makes a jump to ours but goes further back in time than expected and tries to recruit Cable and X-Force to help him save his timeline. Young Justice had me torn over my nostalgia for the '90s and Major X did not do the same. This was everything I hated about the '90s, the overhyped new character, the over saturation of pouches and shoulder pads, and the lack of anatomy lessons and feet. But the story itself didn't really work well with Major X telling Cable why he was there but for some reason, Cable didn't care until the second time, and he realizes Major X is his alternate timeline son that he never met before. Oh, and did I mention Dreadpool? It is actually better that I didn't. I wish I would have bodyslid out of the timeline in which I read this book and tell the past me not to read it. ~ Jay @ComicBookTheate

Gwen tries to find the balance between a normal life and being a superhero but quickly figures out that this will be impossible. Spider-Gwen: Ghost Spider #7 is a solid character issue that does a great job at handling Gwen’s angst. It also does a nice job at progressing Venom’s storyline as she must learn more about her new powers. Takeshi Miyazawa and Ian Herring continue to ace the art style for this book. Spider-Gwen: Ghost Spider #7 is a solid addition to this great run on the character. ~ Kat @ComicUno

Uncanny X-Men #15 continues to check names off the of the list created by Cyclops of the X-Men’s failures that need to be corrected. The X-men are also met by Captain America in this issue, as he offers to help them if they want it and leaves Scott with an Avengers communication card. I’ll be interested to see if that shows up later on in this story arc. This issue is packed full of story and action as the Mutant Liberation Front MLF begin an assault on an anti-mutant rally with a lead politician as their target. All this is a means to stop the MLF but the real target is Hope. Though Hope isn’t exactly happy to see Cyclops as she shoots him when Wolverine swoops in to stop her. Of course Cyclops isn’t dead but instead thanks to Hope, he is now he’s namesake a cyclops. Matthew Rosenberg and Salvador Larroca continue to tell a great X-Men story. War of the Realms #1 The Last Realm Standing, there’s no holding back as this Earth-shattering event kicks off. Nine of the ten realms have already fallen to Malekith and now the war comes to Midgard. As part of Malekith’s plan, Thor has been taken to the land of the frost giants so he is currently off the table and Odin seemingly killed by dark elf assassins the stage is set for the invasion of Earth. Loki is also killed by his own father, though I’ll let you read how that went down for yourself. Overall this was a great starting point for the War of the Realms as it comes to Earth. Can the assembled Avengers stand against the full force of Malekith forces until Thor can find a way back to the battle? Jason Aaron is weaving a mighty tale here and it’s an awesome ride. Russell Dauterman and Matthew Wilson’s art jumps off the page with action worthy of Asgardian lore. ~ Justin @ExileState
