At The Movies with Jay and Kat: October 2015 Is "Truly Outrageous"

Kat and Jay are both TV/Movie junkies, and wanted to team up on a feature every month to share their thoughts on upcoming movies. Check out Kat and Jay's thoughts on the key movies coming out in August. August has some big movies coming out like Jem and The HologramsThe Martian , and Goosebumps.
October 2nd
Legend

Jay's Thoughts:This movie is based on true events, so I am automatically interested in it. Tom Hardy looks really good in this movie playing twins. I am going to see this in the theaters.

The Martian

Kat's Thoughts: This movie is already getting a lot of buzz. It seems like it's going to be the Gravity of 2015. I am looking forward to seeing this movie. It looks like it has great special effects and hopefully it will also have good performances. I will be seeing this in theaters this month.

October 9th

Pan

Kat's Thoughts: This looks like a fun movie for October. I am really impressed with the makeup for Hugh Jackman as Hook. I don't know if I will have time to see this in theaters, but I would love to catch this on DVD.

Jay's Thoughts: This movie looks good, but I have a feeling it is one that looks good in trailers but disappoints in theaters. The concept is pretty cool though. I will probably wait for this for DVD or Netflix.

Steve Jobs

Kat's Thoughts: This is my most anticipated movie for this month. There have been a couple of Steve Jobs movies over the past few years, but after seeing the trailer I think this Steve Jobs movie has finally gotten it right. They are not trying to paint Jobs as a God, but instead as a very intelligent human being with a lot of flaws. This film will delve into the darker side of Steve Jobs. I can't wait to see Michael Fassbender's performance. It  really seems like he transformed himself for this role.

Jay's Thoughts: Of course iKat is anticipating THIS movie. #iPropaganda #IAmAPC.

Big Stone Gap

Jay's Thoughts: Looks like one of those small town movies, so secrets, romance, and heartstrings. This may make a good date night movie. I like that this isn't set in the present day but instead in the 70's.

October 16th

Goosebumps

Kat's Thoughts: I remember when I was in first or second grade this book series use to be really popular. I never really got interested in the books, but the trailer looks interesting. Especially for an October film. This might be fun to see for Halloween.

Jay's Thoughts: I liked the TV series and this movie looks like a lot of fun, I think this will be a nice fun Halloween movie something that you can take the kids to and not have them sleep in bed with you all of November because they have nightmares LOL.

Crimson Peak

Jay's Thoughts: I am so tired of horror movies, but I do love original ones and them in October, this is both of those. I love the period piece element, and it seems to have an actually story, not just lets throw in 50 jump scares and mockumentary style filming. I am looking forward this this movie.

Bridge of Spies

Jay's Thoughts: A Tom Hanks movie is usually a see for me so I am in for this. Outside of Tom Hanks this movie looks intriguing. This is an in theaters movie for me.

Freeheld

Kat's Thoughts: This looks like a movie that might be up for an Oscar, especially with a topic like gender. I don't know if I will see this in theaters, but if it gets good buzz I might see it on Netflix.

Jay's Thoughts: Based on true events and real people again I love these types of movies. The performances look spectacular. This is an in theaters movie for me.

October 23rd

The Last Witch Hunter

Jay's Thoughts: This looks like a really cool movie. The concept is very interesting and very solid, but Vin Diesel just seems to deliver the lines so flat. This may be a DVD or Netflix movie for me.

Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension

Kat's Thoughts: I have never seen a Paranormal Activity film and I don't plan on seeing this one. I am sure it will do well because it is releasing close to Halloween, but when are these movies going to stop? These films are a cheap way for the studio to make money.

Jem and the Holograms

Kat's Thoughts: I didn't grow up with Jem and the Holograms, but I always felt that the cartoon was an interesting nostalgic property. Do I think they should have made a live action film? No, because it kind of looks ridiculous. This would be a better film for animation.

Jay's Thoughts: There is a big disconnect between the new comics and the original cartoon, so I am interested in seeing how this measures up to both. I agree with Kat though I think this would have been better in animation and geared for the tweens and young girls while at the same time appealing to the nostalgia of the adults who grew up with it. I think this is being aimed for that college age demographic and I don't see them wanting to run and see this movie.

Burnt

Jay's Thoughts: I say it every time, Bradley Cooper is a local guy, I am seeing it, but it is also because he is a guy who can be in any movie so the movies he selects are usually really good. I like how diverse he is with his movies, and this is a different take on him so I am interested in seeing this.

Rock the Kasbah

Jay's Thoughts: This is an odd concept, a rock tour manager being trapped in the middle east because his talent couldn't deal with being there and performing for the troops so she runs with his wallet and passport. Not even Bruce Willis and Bill Murray can get me into the theaters to see this one.

October 30th

Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse

Kat's Thoughts: I hadn't heard about this film before I started writing this article, but this seems like a fun quirky film and you know I am sucker for a good teen flick. I am going to try and catch this on Netflix.

Jay's Thoughts: The Zombie genre is usually the same the world is ending zombies are eating people and have everyone hiding out and there is no real hope. This is one that looks fun and interesting. I think this will make a fun Halloween viewing in the theaters.

Our Brand is Crisis

Jay's Thoughts: Inspired by true events another movie that interests me. I love Sandra Bullock and this one has her playing up on the political side as a fixer type character. What I like about the trailer the thing that has me interested in it is that you have all of this drama, but you get that Bullock humor in it. This will be a good theater viewing.
