Free Comic Book Day is in 5 Days! To help get the word out actor, producer, director and host of Reading Rainbow LeVar Burton encourages readers of all ages to check out Free Comic Book Day!
As the producer and host of the PBS program Reading Rainbow for over 30 years, LeVar continues to be a reading activist, encouraging kids to read through fun and interactive activities and helping parents emphasize the importance of reading to their children. LeVar has always been a comic book fan as he started reading comics at a young age which also helped him stay connected with pop culture. He encourages kids and parents to participate in Free Comic Book Day as it is a great experience for younger readers to discover new stories and help kids stay actively reading.
This year, Free Comic Book Day is taking place on Saturday May 3rd at participating comic book shops across the country and worldwide! There are 60 FREE comics that are available to choose from for both kids and adults. Titles of comics include Guardians of the Galaxy, Spongebob, DC’s The New 52: Futures End, Teen Titans Go, Transformers vs. GI Joe, Power Rangers, Hello Kitty and more!
