Rapid Weekly Rewind - Gotham Summer News

Welcome to the new Rapid Weekly Rewind! Superhero TV is expanding more and more each season I thought it would be a great idea to gather all the news and create a one stop weekly shop for it all. In addition to the news I will also do a recap of that weeks episodes of SupergirlThe FlashArrowDC's Legends of TomorrowGothamAgents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Marvel  Netflix, and the animated series Vixen and the new Freedom Fighters: The Ray. This first week of articles will catch you up on everything from San Diego Comic Con 2016 to this year's Television Critics Association's Annual Summer Press Tour, and more for FOX's Gotham

Since the SDCC 2016 Gotham Panel the show has made a few announcements including the first image of Maggie Geha as Ivy Pepper from Season 3 and the reason behind the aging at the Television Critics Association's Annual Summer Press Tour. Gotham Producers also offered Killer Croc & Season 3 Villains Details
“The idea of Poison Ivy came along because one of the escapees from Indian Hill has the power when he touches you he takes away years of your life, he ages you immediately. So he touches Ivy early on but he didn’t hold onto her for very long so he does a little bit of aging [to her]. So for us we really wanted to play with the idea of transformation. Version one of the character, version two. And so much of Ivy of the canon that we wanted to play, we had to make her a little older.”
John Stephens, Producer
“I don’t think we’ll see any super powers stuff. I think that would be way further down the line especially since this is an origin story show. So I think it’s going to be more about discovering how other people perceive her and what means. A lot of people are focused on her sexuality. I think Ivy, in my opinion, doesn’t really feel sexual about anybody. I think if she notices this person is attracted to me, finds me appealing in a sexual way, I’m going to use that to my benefit. It’s more of a manipulative thing than anything.”
- Maggie Geha

Killer Croc will be a "proto version" of the reptilian character who will appear right near the beginning of the season. The actor playing the role is already cast, and is an unknown. Another big name that will introduced is Solomon Grundy who will not be a zombified version of someone we have already seen as some have speculated, but instead a brand new character to the series.

Finally, Stephens spoke about the Mad Hatter and whether or not the Batman: Arkham video game series had helped influence the shaping of Gotham's take on Jervis Tetch, who will be played by Benedict Samuel from The Walking Dead. He is described as a talented hypnotist teetering on the edge of madness. In GothamTetch will find his way to the city while on a mission to find out what happened to his sister Alice, a young woman who has gone missing. While we don’t really know what happened to her, we can assume it most likely wasn’t anything good.

“No, not really honestly. I feel like the character’s an amalgam as much anything. There’s a little bit of the reality from the Brubaker books but also from the New 52 and the Snyder books. There’s some of that, too. From the Batman Mad series in terms of the emotional drive that he has. Benedict is definitely taller than most versions of Jervis but he plays it with a level of naturalistic insanity that I think, he really fills out that pantheon really, really well. But, no, there’s no influence from the games.”
John Stephens, Producer

Gotham released some images of the Mad Hatter's Lair, which seems to have plenty little Mad Hatter Easter eggs in it.

Carmine Falcone isn't around much anymore, but the Falcone crime family bloodline will live on in the form of young Mario Falcone played by James Carpinello.
"Mario Falcone is someone who has rejected his family’s criminal ways and made a legitimate life for himself as a well-respected, Ivy League-educated ER doctor. He’s kind, honest and trustworthy, making him the black sheep of the Falcone clan. His arrival in Gotham will create major waves in the personal life of Jim Gordon."
Could he try to bust up the romance between Gordon and Dr. Thompkins?

Jamie Chung (Once Upon A Time) has signed on as Valerie Vale, the aunt to Bruce Wayne’s comic book love interest Vicki Vale.

One of the biggest teases to come out of Gotham is the reveal that Jerome (Cameron Monaghan) will be back as sort of proto-Joker. Why this is surprising is that Jerome was publicly murdered by Theo Galavan in season 2. Of course, when has being murdered ever stopped any character on this show? Galavan himself was killed and resurrected as Azrael.
"It is 100% our intention to bring Jerome back. We're going to be playing it again this year and basically extending the idea of the cult of Jerome. We're building the architecture for him to come back. You’ll have these underground movements that have started to talk about Jerome and what he represented and how he’s going to come back like in the days of John the Baptist. Setting the stage that if there is a Season 4, hopefully we’ll bring that back in a much bigger way and you’ll see these different versions of the Joker myth.
John Stephens, Executive Producer
"GOTHAM (Mondays, 8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) The origin story continues on Season Three of GOTHAM, and the stakes are higher than ever, as Super-Villains more ambitious and depraved are introduced, and a realignment of alliances shakes up the fight for power in Gotham City.Season Three will peel back the curtain on the infamous criminal organization known as the Court of The Owls. With the Indian Hill escapees on the loose, JIM GORDON (Ben McKenzie) must take matters into his own hands as a bounty hunter in Gotham. He makes it his mission to find HUGO STRANGE (guest star BD Wong), the mastermind behind the horrifying Indian Hill experiments, and FISH MOONEY (guest star Jada Pinkett Smith), one of Strange’s subjects. Meanwhile, GCPD Detective HARVEY BULLOCK (Donal Logue) and Captain NATHANIEL BARNES (Michael Chiklis) remain at the forefront of the fight against crime in the monster-ridden city. Also, BRUCE WAYNE (David Mazouz), with the help of his trusted butler and mentor, ALFRED PENNYWORTH (Sean Pertwee), and former Wayne Enterprises employee, LUCIUS FOX (Chris Chalk), discovers there are still more secrets to uncover regarding his parents’ murders. As the city sinks deeper into chaos, GOTHAM will continue to follow the evolving stories of the city’s most malevolent villains: THE PENGUIN (Robin Lord Taylor); EDWARD NYGMA/the future RIDDLER (Cory Michael Smith); SELINA KYLE/the future CATWOMAN (Camren Bicondova); BARBARA KEAN (Erin Richards), TABITHA GALAVAN/TIGRESS (Jessica Lucas) and BUTCH GILZEAN (Drew Powell)."
