Welcome Comic Frontline's Top 5 Panels! This is where the Frontline Six unite to pick their Top 5 comic panels from the week, and then you guys get to vote below which panel was your favorite. In next week's post we will announce the winner from the poll.
Fan Panel Pick From Last Week - Teen Titans #23 - Ya'll Need Therapy!/ Understatement Of The Year!
5. Action Comics #1004 - I Need You
I really enjoyed the Lois and Clark dynamic here, and see guys, this is why the wait and tension was all worth it.
4. Batgirl #28 - Gordons Never Give Up
3. Spider- Gwen: Ghost Spider #1 - The Reveal
I'm looking forward to where this new Peter and Gwen dynamic goes.
1. Spider-Girls #1 - Fine
Spider-Verse/ Spider-Geddon hasn’t been able to portray May’s trauma in character, but this mini-series does. May is not the type of person to automatically shout out her feelings. She usually has to let them settle until something pushes her over the edge. I really love how on point this scene was for her character.
BRANT
5. Action Comics #1004 - Canoodling
Caught in the act by her own paper, and Clark has to find out that way. Nicely done.
4. Action Comics #1004 - Great Caesar's-- Ghost!
Not difficult to tell what just happened there. Love the line, love the reunion!
This was heartbreaking and touching as Annie learns that Mayday could have been her older sister had she lived in this timeline. And MJ is torn up seeing her all grown up. Great scene.
2. X-Men Red #9 - Degrees of Experience
Gaby continues to be panel gold as she relates to Jean Grey in an unexpected way taking Jean by surprise.
1. Sentry #5 - I Can Fix It
Wow... okay, so Sentry is like full on dark Superman now. He fixed Billy all right... for good!
CHRIS
5. The Terrifics #9 - Java?
Of course it’s Java!
4. Spider- Gwen: Ghost Spider #1 - The Reveal
It's me, Gwen.
3. Action Comics #1004 - Great Caesar's-- Ghost!
When you know you’re around Perry White too much.
2. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Macro-Series #2 - Crack
Mikey gets a good hit in!
1. Spider-Geddon #2 - The Die is Cast!
Superior Spider-Man is back.
JAY
Honorable Mention: X-Men Red #9 - X-Men Have Been Through So Much Weirder....
5. X-Men Red #9 - Slice Through The Awkward....
Got to love Gabby! How many times have you wished you had an X-23 to use SNIKT powers to slice through the awkward?
4. Spider-Girls #1 - My Name Is Mayday Parker....
Everyone's face tells so much story here. Especially May's and M.J.'s. I love this scene.
3. Batgirl #28 - You Will Always Be Worthwhile To Me....
I am a sucker for these panels and man is this a good one! Gordon is a great dad and I think we seem to forget that since he is always a supporting character for Batman.
2. Action Comics #1004 - Want And Need....
I love seeing Superman vulnerable and this is a perfect time and place to do it with Lois and him being at this point where he is just lost and needs her. The eyes here are so powerful from Clark's vulnerability to Lois seeing that in them, just powerful.
1. Action Comics #1004 - Don't Let Go....
MIKE SPIDER-SLAYER
5. Infinity Warps Sorcerer Supreme #2 - Captain America is Hot
This scene had me chuckle. Even Satan's worshippers think Stephen Rogers is hot!!
4. Batgirl #28 - I'm Proud of You
This issue had great moments between Babs and her old dad. This one shed a tear for me.
3. True Believers What if Kraven the Hunter Killed Spider-Man - She Attempts To Be Stoic
2. True Believers What if Kraven the Hunter Killed Spider-Man - Your Nephew Was Spider-Man
Out of all these years, Aunt May never knew about Peter being Spider-Man. However, in this what if issue Aunt May finally finds out the truth when her nephew is dead. How powerful is that moment!
1. True Believers What if Kraven the Hunter Killed Spider-Man - Back in My Day
For me this week, the comics that were released were mediocre-at-best that's why this reprint of a what-if comic gets so much praise. I truly miss at times the way storytelling was in comics from the 70s, 80s and early 90s. Richard Howell delivers in this story’s emotion from a one shot at the time really means absolutely nothing because it's not canon, but delivers in ways that you cared about this book if it was to really happen. Not some cheap gimmick that Marvel has done with there most recent What if books. This issue ended off with Mary Jane having a purpose after Peter’s death, and that was restoring the superhero community and being their spokesperson.
