During our Comic-Con International: San Diego coverage
Nicole D’Andria reported on Sony’s expansion of their Spider-Man Franchise with
the release dates for their Sinister Six and The Amazing Spider-Man 3 movies.
Now Kat Comic Uno brings us news of Sony further expanding the franchise with a
female lead movie using one of the most popular supporting female cast of
Spider-Man.
This news could open the doors for Sony to do a film with
any of the female cast from the Spider-Man franchise license that they possess that include, Silver
Sable, Stunner, Firestarter, and Spider-Woman herself to name a few. But the big money
will be on a solo Black Cat film, with Felecity Jones already portraying her
alter ego Felicia Hardy in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 this year.
The movie is reportedly eyeing a 2017 date that will place it
between Sinister Six which will hit theaters November 11, 2016 and The Amazing Spider-Man 3 in 2018.
While we know some basic details on the Sinister Six film, such as they will be
formed by Dr. Octopuss, we know very little on this female lead movie as of
now. What we do know though is that Lisa Joy Nolan (Westworld, Reminiscence) has
been brought on to write the script while Arad
and Tolmach will be producing.
Stay tuned to Comic Frontline as we continue to monitor this
story and any news from Sony on the Spider-Man franchise.
