Could Marvel be moving their Cinematic Universe towards the Civil War storyline from the comics? At Fandomfest in Louisville, Kentucky Anthony Mack eluded to that in an interview with comicbook.com. Brant Fowler reports on the story.
Before Comic-Con International: San Diego Marvel dropped a few big bombs that shook up their big 3 (Captain America, Iron Man and Thor) with Thor being replaced by a woman, Iron Man becoming Superior in San Fran and Sam Wilson A.K.A. The Falcon replacing Steve Rogers as Captain America as a part of their Avengers NOW! intiative. At Fandomfest, Anthony Mackie was asked if he thought that he would find himself taking over that role in the movies, Mackie's answer has the fandom buzzing with speculation.
“I don’t know. I mean I’m excited about it...I think if it goes that way in the movies that it would take a long time, because there’s so many evolutions before that. You know, I’m excited to see Sebastian play Cap. I think Sebastian’s a great actor. But I love seeing Chris Evans as Cap, so I feel like they can go any way they want. I’m enjoying my part beside Cap. I’m in no rush to be Cap.”
- Anthony Mackie
While not coming out and confirming anything this comment by Mackie along with the rumors of Chris Evans taking a break from acting have fans wondering if Marvel might be moving towards a cinematic adaptation of it's popular 2006-2007 Civil War company-wide event that saw the heroes picking sides during the Superhero Registration Act. In the aftermath of the storyline Captain America was seemingly assassinated by Crossbones. During the period that Captain America was believed to be dead, Bucky Barnes, The Winter Soldier stepped up to fill his former partners patriotic costume and shield.

that'd be interesting, but i'd rather see Cap get a break for a while so some other properties can be developed
