Telltale is
an independent video game developer and publisher responsible for acclaimed
choice based games such as The Walking
Dead, Game of Thrones, Minecraft: Story Mode and The Wolf Among Us. This time the developer is tackling yet
another comic book related game. The Dark Knight himself will be
getting a Telltale makeover! The first details of the game have just been
released.
Batman—The
Telltale Series will focus on Gotham’s most famous vigilante,
both as Bruce Wayne and Batman. The player will make decisions as Bruce Wayne during
the day and Batman at night, which will influence the city and villains the
players will take on. The universe in this game will be a modern day Gotham that is not part of previous Batman iterations from the comic books, movies or video
games.
On their blog, Telltale Games stated: "Batman is the perfect character for the studio to explore in a Telltale series, giving the team the opportunity to dive deeper into the mind of the man behind the mask. Each night, Bruce Wayne chooses to change Gotham for the better. The team wants to explore what the consequences are of the player’s actions when decisions made as Bruce have a critical impact on his nightly crusade as Batman, and vice versa. Certain key situations will give the player the decision to approach a scene as Bruce or Batman, with consequences for both sides."

The extensive Bat-family will not be present, so no
Robin or Batgirl. Only a handful of side-characters, which include Alfred,
Commissioner Gordon, Vicky Vale and Renee Montoya, have been announced. According to Telltale, "Certain characters will have a deeply personal relationship with Bruce in his private life, and decisions made as Bruce or Batman will affect their paths towards corruption or redemption."
The
villains gamers will be facing are still a mystery, but my guess is the Joker
will be one of them.
The game
will be released during the summer. Its style will be reminiscent of comic book
art from such artists as Jim Lee, Greg Capullo, and Neal Adams. It will be rated M (Mature 17+). Here is
