Doom Patrol Enters The DC Universe!

Right off the heels of the DC Entertainment announcement naming their upcoming digital streaming service, DC Universe. They also announced the initial wave of series joining it, now today they are adding to the impressive line up of original content with a live-action Doom Patrol series.

The series will pick up events from the previously announced and in DC Universe Titans series, where characters from the show will debut. The members of the Doom Patrol confirmed to appear in Titans are Bruno Bichir as The Chief / Niles Caulder, April Bowlby as Rita Farr Dayton / Elasti-Girl, Jake Michaels as Cliff Steele / Robot-Man, and Dwain Murphy as Lawrence Trainor / Negative Man. Titans will feature Ryan Potter as ex-Doom Patrol member Beast Boy, but it is unknown whether the role will extend to Doom Patrol. Victor Stone / Cyborg will also play a role in Doom Patrol, though its unclear whether he'll appear in Titans before joining the show.

Doom Patrol has received a 13-one-hour-episode order, and is scheduled to premiere in 2019 with executive producers Greg Berlanti, Geoff Johns, Jeremy Carver, and Sarah Schechter. The series will be written by Jeremy Carver.
"Doom Patrol is a re-imagining of one of DC’s most beloved group of outcast Super Heroes: Robotman, Negative Man, Elasti-Girl and Crazy Jane, led by modern-day mad scientist Dr. Niles Caulder (The Chief). The Doom Patrol's members each suffered horrible accidents that gave them superhuman abilities — but also left them scarred and disfigured. Traumatized and downtrodden, the team found purpose through The Chief, who brought them together to investigate the weirdest phenomena in existence — and to protect Earth from what they find. Part support group, part Super Hero team, the Doom Patrol is a band of super-powered freaks who fight for a world that wants nothing to do with them. Picking up after the events of Titans, Doom Patrol will find these reluctant heroes in a place they never expected to be, called to action by none other than Cyborg, who comes to them with a mission hard to refuse, but with a warning that is hard to ignore: their lives will never, ever be the same."
