DC's Streaming Service Gets Name & Initial Line-Up!


DC Entertainment today announced the name of their upcoming digital streaming service which will be; DC Universe. They also premiered the logo for the service, as well as the initial wave of series joining it. Operated by Warner Bros. Digital Networks Group, the new DC Universe digital service will deliver an immersive experience designed just for DC fans.


Titans follows a group of young soon-to-be Super Heroes recruited from every corner of the DC Universe. In this action-packed series, Dick Grayson emerges from the shadows to become the leader of a fearless band of new heroes, including StarfireRaven, Beast Boy and others. Titans is a dramatic, live-action adventure series that will explore and celebrate one of the most popular comic book teams ever.

Titans will be written by Akiva Goldsman (Star Trek: DiscoveryUnderground), Geoff Johns (President & Chief Creative Officer, DC EntertainmentThe FlashArrow) and Greg Berlanti (ArrowDC’s Legends of TomorrowThe FlashSupergirl). Goldsman, Johns, Berlanti and Sarah Schechter (ArrowDC’s Legends of TomorrowThe FlashSupergirl) are executive producers of the series from Weed Road Pictures and Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television.


Additionally, Warner Bros. Animation’s Young Justice: Outsiders, the highly anticipated third season of the popular Young Justice series, is also ramping up for its first mission later this year. The third season will contain 26 episodes in total with plans for seasons 4 & 5 if it does well!


There is also the recently announced Harley Quinn animated series which will be receiving a 26-episode adult animated series that will be the third show to exclusively air on the DC Universe  streaming service. The series comes from the Powerless creative team of Justin Halpern, Patrick Schumacker and Dean Lorey. Much like in Harley’s popular ongoing comic series, the animated series will focus on a Quinn who’s broken things off with the Joker and is attempting to find success in the Gotham City underworld on her own, alongside her friend Poison Ivy and a whole cast of heroes and villains.


The DC Universe streaming service has also optioned a live-action Swamp Thing one-hour television series. Aquaman director James Wan is an executive producer along with Mark Verheiden, Gary Dauberman, and Michael Clear with Rob Hackett as a co-producer on the show through his Atomic Monster company, alongside Warner Bros. Television. Wan will be joined by veteran comics-to-screen writer Mark Verheiden is working on the initial Swamp Thing script, along with Gary Dauberman. The show has a script-series order which means if it is approved by DC Entertainment it will skip the pilot stage and be ordered straight to series with an intended 2019 debut.

Titans was supposed to be followed by Metropolis, a series about Lois Lane and super villain Lex Luthor. The live-action drama, which had a 13-episode straight-to-series order was slated for a 2019 debut, is now being redeveloped.
