Saturday night must be Ladies Night at San Diego Comic Con 2016 shortly after DC Entertainment rolled out the first trailer for Wonder Woman, Marvel Studios made their own announcement that Brie Larson will play the title character in their first female lead solo movie Captain Marvel. The casting of Brie Larson has long been rumored, Larson was in negotiations for the role in early June. The Room star and Academy Award-winning actress Larson will make her first appearance in the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War set for release May 4, 2018 she headlines the Captain Marvel solo movie scheduled for release March 8, 2019.
After the panel, Larson shared the news with her followers and tweeted a photo of herself wearing a Marvel Studios hat captioned: "Call me Captain Marvel."
