SDCC 2015: Affleck & Johns Reported To Be Writing Solo Batman Film

There are reports Ben Affleck is teaming up with Geoff Johns to co-write a stand-alone Batman movie that Affleck will direct and star in after he completes his longstanding plan to helm his scripted adaptation of the Dennis Lehane novel Live By Night, a movie he has already delayed once in order to star as the Dark Knight in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Johns isn't a stranger to the live action superhero world with his mentor being Richard Donner. Johns has also written some of the most well received episodes of Smallville, Arrow and The Flash as well as the upcoming Supergirl show for CBS.

Affleck and Johns are reportedly well in synch and have more than found their rhythm. they are so in synch they are likely to turn in a script before the end of the summer. The Batman movie would shoot after he finishes Live By Night, and the plot would deal with the Batman that emerges after the events of Batman V Superman: Dawn f Justice and Justice League, the latter of which is slated for November 17, 2017. DC Entertainment and Warner Bros have set a long list of superhero movies but it’s unclear when the Affleck-lead Batman film will be slotted.
